Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) - New Research Facility
Expanding the research capabilities on the Chesapeake Bay, this 3-story building has a high mechanical system to serve both lab and office space. This is their largest research facilities on campus and will take the place of Chesapeake Bay Hall previously constructed by Kjellstrom and Lee. Features of this building include a brick envelope with a metal panel and curtain wall system. A unique aesthetic feature of this building is the frit glass map of the Chesapeake Bay that signifies the focus of the facility.
